Estero del Yugo, Mázatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico
16 July 2013
After a long ferry ride from La Paz, we were eager to start birding on the mainland. We headed over to Estero del Yugo, just north of Mázatlan. Estero del Yugo provides excellent opportunities to see lowland scrub species as well as wading birds in close proximity to Mazatlan. As soon as we arrived at the Estero my ears needed an adjustment, so many bird songs I am not used to hearing. We had a fabulous time at the estero! Highlights of our day included Yellow Grosbeak, Ferruginous Pygmy-Owl, Cinnamon Hummingbird, Rufous-bellied Chacalaca, and Roseate Spoonbill. For a complete list of species seen, check our eBird list for the Estero del Yugo.
