Puffleg Expedition
Instead of writing a regular blog post we decided to make a video about our recent experience searching for Black-breasted Pufflegs and Turquoise-throated Pufflegs in Pinchincha, Ecuador with Jocotoco Foundation.
Unfortunately, this will also be our last regular blog post. Kathi has accepted a position with Rainforest Trust and will be working to protect the amazing places we’ve seen along our journey. Thank you for following along. We hope that our posts have been entertaining and we hope they may help others in the future. Happy Birding!

Serious? Wow, I’m really excited for you, and for the Trust–I’m sure you’ll add a lot. But I’m very sad for my vicarious journey through the many layers of the Neotropics and beyond with you. It’s been absolutely awesome, I’ve eaten up every blog (and saved them, for future use!). I’m sure it’s bittersweet to end this odyssey for you guys too. ALL THE BEST, and GOOD LUCK!!

Josh and Kathi, thank you so much for sharing your journey with us all. And thank you for keeping the blog up, it is an incredible resource as it updates the Howell guide and provides incredible detailed birding info that would be challenging, to say the least, to compile any other way!

I agree, I am using it extensively in planning my independent trip to Colombia with 2 friends next year. I am enjoying the posts as much the second time around as the first! I listened to the video here once more, and it doesn’t reveal–did you ever find any of the Black-breasted Puffleg? Too much to hope, but no Turquoise-throated either?
